The New Mexico chapter of the Industrial Areas Foundation is sponsoring a training for people interested in broad-based organizing. Details follow:

How do we effectively engage with the people in our schools, congregations, workplaces, and neighborhoods to hold decision-makers accountable and make lasting change?
RSVP here for an immersive, day-long training in broad-based organizing, Saturday, June 27th, 10-5:30 PM at RFK Charter School.
**Light breakfast and lunch provided, childcare provided.**
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
This training will prepare participants to begin engaging in "broad-based organizing" following the Industrial Areas Foundation (IAF) model. IAF organizations have a 50-year track record in 50+ cities across the country, where everyday leaders have leveraged billions of dollars for their communities.
"Broad-based" organizing is a way for everyday people to come together to influence city, county, and state budget and policy decisions. Unlike single-issue advocacy, this model focuses on building lasting relationships and developing grassroots leaders across race, class, and faith lines to create systemic, community-driven change.
HOW CAN THIS WORK IMPACT OUR COMMUNITY?
Engage Your Constituents: Non-profits, schools, congregations and unions are stronger when their leaders have tools for engaging their people.
Building Power: Individuals are more powerful when connected with an organized group that can hold decision-makers accountable.
Addressing Root Causes: Researching and targeting systemic inequalities in housing, education, health care, and labor rather than just treating symptoms.
Amplifying Voices: Providing a formalized platform for historically excluded residents to influence policy.
