HELP SPREAD HUMANISM IN NEW MEXICO

Want to bring humanism to your part of New Mexico? Actually, people live and practice humanist ideals throughout the state. But sometimes they have difficulty finding or creating a community of like-minded people.

The good news is it doesn't have to be complicated. And you don't have to be part of Humanists New Mexico or the American Humanist Association. It can start simply with a social media post or posting a flyer at the local community college or community center.

If you're near Santa Fe, check out the Freethinkers Forum at the UU Church. And if you're in or near Alamogordo, the Otero Humanist Community would love to hear from you.

This discussion group, affiliated with the American Humanists Association, is a frequent collaborator of ours. They are people from all faiths or none, freethinkers, humanists, atheists and agnostics.

Formed in 2025, the Otero Humanist Community is increasingly active in Alamogordo and surrounding areas. They host in-person gatherings, including game nights, coffee meetups, and potlucks. They attend and engage in local events and community activities together. Sometimes this means showing up in public spaces, sometimes supporting local efforts, and sometimes simply being present as neighbors.

Our Mission

Humanists New Mexico, aka the Humanist Society of New Mexico, is a statewide 501(c)(3) non-profit educational organization. While our leadership and meetings are in Albuquerque, we eagerly support efforts to form satellite groups. We strive to provide a community where everyone may learn about and share humanist principles in a friendly, respectful and joyful environment.
